Critic's Review This smooth Portuguese red is a blend of Castelao (45%), Tinta Roriz (25%), Tinta Barroca (20%), and Pinot Noir (10%). The vineyards are located near Lisbon, planted in sunny gentle slopes of clay and limestone soils. The wine was aged in oak barrels.
My Thoughts This red blend was deep, dark red in color. On the nose, it was oaky with a vanilla quality. It was also complimented with notes of sour fruit which continued in the flavors - sour cherries and blackberries. It was smooth on the finish, making it easy to drink. Not overly complex, makes it a good wine for beginners.
This wine was not paired with any food.
